Reopen March-Spalding

MINUTES OF THE ERTA FORUM HELD ON SATURDAY 19th October 2019
1.Present – Simon Barber (SB); David Ferguson (DF); Mike Cockerill (MC); Gavin Chase
2.Apologies: Richard Pill; Sir John Hayes (MP for Spalding); George Scott (Spalding Transport Forum); Cllr. Nicholas Worth (South Holland District Council); Cllr. Christopher Brewis (Lincolnshire County Council)
3.Notes of Previous Meeting (4 May 2019) and Matters Arising:
Park-and-Ride Station should be built at Cowbit which is a growing village which used to have a station on the old March-Spalding railway
4/5.March-Spalding strategic missing link/Spalding’s strategic position and why re-railing is needed:
More thought and time is needed on project
6. Deeping St. Nicholas (between Peterborough and Spalding)– Freight depot plan scrapped. Village too small to justify station at present.
7. Werrington Flyover (East Coast Main Line) – Work now in progress.  Also housing development in same village, which would justify station on current Peterborough – Spalding line.
8. Plan for tackling politicians, MPs and media – Spalding Today, one of the area's local papers, had an article in regard to our campaign in January. Today’s event was also listed in the recent issue of that same paper, plus also another local paper, Spalding Voice.
9. Regenerating Town Centres – No conclusion reached
10. Electrification of Joint Line (Spalding – Doncaster) - Low priority for Government
11. AOB - Re-open Donington Station (between Spalding and Sleaford)
New spur linking Spalding–Sleaford and Sleaford-Boston lines
Liaise with campaigners for re-opening March-Wisbech and Kings Lynn-Hunstanton

12.Next meeting - Saturday, 9 May at the Ivy Wall, Spalding from 2 – 5pm (3-5pm business)
