12 June 2018
Press Release

ERTA supports reopening Peak Rail for everyday use for passenger and freight trains, cutting congestion and giving more options for people.

ERTA supports the current Peak Rail initiative but wants the line reopened as well for daily passenger and freight by rail options to work alongside steam interests. Once part of the Midland Main Line London-Manchester artery, the line if rebuilt would provide a handy link from the East Midlands and North West and vice versa.

ERTA welcomes people to join its association and help us work with others to bring about reopenings sooner than later. It is convening a Forum in Matlock on SATURDAY 30 JUNE 1.00pm buy food and social, 2.00 – 4.00pm business at The Crown, Crown Square, Matlock Derbyshire, DE4 3AT. Anyone interested please contact Mr Simon Barber: T 020 8940 4399 E simon4barber@gmail.com

ERTA Media Spokesperson Mr Richard Pill said “ERTA wants the route to be protected, studied as to its merits and the case to be made for a full reopening of this strategic rail corridor for the benefit of the wider public, lifestyle choices, commuting, traffic congestion reduction and saving land. Population has grown, traffic exceeds parking and we need the environmental benefits rail has to offer.”
